A Day of Changes

Wednesday was a day of change. As Rian arrived to help me move Dad from his bed to his recliner, Mom (Grace) commented to him how comfortable he looked. She asked if he would like to stay in his bed for the day. He thought that would be nice to try. So, Rian and I (Becky) set about rearranging the furniture so that the bed could be in the living/family room so that he could watch television if he wanted.

The hospice nurse visited in the afternoon and Dad commented that he was having to have Grace open the door and turn on the ceiling fan sometimes. She suggested oxygen as this is a symptom of feeling like your not getting enough air in your lungs.

Today, Dad has slept most of the day. They delivered the oxygen and he says that it makes it so much easier to breath. He now feels like he is getting air into his lungs. He's still trying to make sure that we are all okay and wants to make sure that finances are in line. We continue to reassure him that we will all be fine. On the plus side, he has not lost his sense of humor and there is always a joke or some sort of dry humor in every one of his comments.

We laugh and cry and just continue to love each other as a family!!!

  1. So wonderful to hear that he is feeling more comfortable. What a blessing to still be able to converse and share stories with him during this time. He is such a remarkable man!
